Certified HVAC Service

What Does it Mean to Have Certified HVAC Service?

At R & A Cooling, all our technicians are N.A.T.E. certified. This is important to us and other HVAC experts, but it might be new to you. So, what does it mean to be N.A.T.E. certified and why should you care? Here's what you need to know about certified HVAC service.

What Is It?

N.A.T.E. stands for North American Technician Excellence. This is a non-profit organization that is operated and supported by HVAC experts. It was established in 1997 to set a standard for quality HVAC repair services. Although it's voluntary to become certified, many HVAC companies prefer to hire these professionals over other non-certified candidates.

About the Program

There are four levels to the N.A.T.E. certified HVAC service program. The first step is for those who are new to the HVAC repair services field and have little to no knowledge. It gives them the fundamental job knowledge and skills they need to succeed and move up. The second level is for those who have been working for 6-12 months and gives them an overview of what the higher level exams are like. The third level is for those who have been in the industry for two years or more. It allows them to specialize in installation or service for a variety of specialty areas. The fourth level is the most advanced and applicants must already hold two N.A.T.E. service certifications.

Once certified, technicians are encouraged to maintain their certification by completing 16 credit hours, whether in-person or online every two years. As technology grows, so must our education which is why continual learning is an important aspect of the program.

Why Is It Important?

Providing exceptional HVAC services near me, wherever you are, is vital to being successful. The N.A.T.E. certification program provides textbook education to match the technician's real-world experience. What they learn on the job can be backed up with the additional knowledge provided through the N.A.T.E. program to provide a comprehensive education and skill set. You can be assured that when you hire a N.A.T.E. certified technician, that the job will get done right the first time.
